Hey guys - just wondering what you all are feeding your pups, and how its working out for you.
I have had Cassy on Canidae ALS. She has a great coat, plenty of energy, and looks good all-around. But she's got some seriously potent gas and her stools aren't nearly as firm as I'd like. Thinking that it is perhaps the protein richness of Canidae (so many different protein sources), I've started to simplify the diet by switching to 1/2 Diamond (1 carb, 1 protein) and 1/2 Canidae. If things remain unchanged, I may try switching to 100% Diamond for a couple months. I will keep you updated.
So - is anyone having really good luck with a certain food? Shiny coats, clear eyes, firm stools, and no gas attack? Remember to keep it under 24% protein until 18 mo. of age :)
Hope you all have had a great hunting season. Cassy has learned to sit well in a blind, even if there are no ducks falling!
Best - Matt
Hey Matt, I've had Ryder on Diamond since the start. His stuff has gotten a lot more solid in the last month or so and his coat is excellent. Always has a ton of energy and loves getting out to hunt. Still working on sitting for a while in the blind, but did very well on a recent trip in a boat.
All the best- Casey
We like Canidae but switched to Eukanuba 30/20. Hattie ( WIllies littermate) had a litter of pups last spring and it took a lot out of her. The Euk put tha muscle tone back in her nicely. Joan has switched all the dogs over now. Diamond isn't bad, they make the kirkland food which is a great value.
Hi all. Mayson (Green) also had the problem of loose stools with Canidae ALS so I too switched to half Diamond and half Canidae. So far so good. His stools firmed up nicely and other than that I can't say much else has changed. His coat is shiny, energy is great. I may decide to go all Diamond or try the Kirkland brand and see how that goes. Mayson has recently been involved in a few duck adventures and has been fairly good in the blind despite the lack of action. I am hoping to change the action part Monday when I go Chukkar hunting with Cassie and Remi.

Where can i buy Diamond? I too, was having problems with my pups stool.. It was soft and sometimes watery. I gave her already some type of dog food. The vendor said it's pedigree but I think It's not. Probably, I'd be buying a whole pack to make sure it was a genuine one or should I buy what you suggest? the diamond and canidae?
By the way, what are those? and how much?
